Tips for Computer Beginners

There are some basic tips that you should know about if you are a new computer user. These may be simple but they can save you some time. Remember, computers are tools and they can't do anything without us telling them what to do.
It may sound silly but you should know that your computer has a clock. This is often overlooked. Your computer will keep track of everything on it. For instance, it will record the time that you saved your latest report or the last time you revised a document. This is an important feature as it lets you keep track of what you are doing on your computer.
Having a clock on your computer is also important, because it will actually start to slow down once the battery in your computer starts to die. This is important to you because you will want to make sure to replace your computer's battery to avoid anything serious.
Make sure to get some kind of defensive software. This means getting anti-virus and spy-ware software. Your computer is always under attack, even if you don't know it. These programs will help you protect your computer. Most of these programs are updated all the time to keep you safer. You will also be able to find many of them for free. The free versions are the basic versions of the programs but will be more than enough to protect your computer.
If you don't get these programs then over time your computer is going to slow down, not work, or give away valuable information to computer thieves. Another thing that you will want to invest in is a firewall. The best way to describe a firewall is a fence or a castle wall. It protects your computer from foreign entities from getting into your computer.
It should be noted that while these protect you from 98 percent of what is out there, computer hackers are always thinking of ways to get around the systems. There is no fool-proof way to avoid getting viruses or spyware unless you aren't connected to the internet. Even though, it is still critical that you get these programs. Having to reboot your computer from a virus you could have stopped is time consuming and potentially expensive to you.
If you find yourself lost with your new computer you should know that there are numerous ways to get help.
